Gum and periodontal care is dental care that keeps your gums and the bone around your teeth healthy. It treats gum disease early, before teeth loosen. Gum disease starts small, and caught early, gum care can stop it and help you keep your natural teeth.
Bleeding gums are the most common early sign of gum disease, worth a dentist’s look, not a wait. Receding gums show signs you can spot yourself, such as teeth that start to look longer. Each sign is a prompt to book, not a diagnosis.
Gums that bleed when you brush.
Gums pulling back, or teeth that look longer.
Sore or puffy gums.
Bad breath that does not clear.
Sensitivity, or teeth that feel loose.
Scaling and root planing is a nonsurgical deep cleaning. It removes plaque and tartar above and below the gumline, then smooths the roots. There are no incisions and no stitches, and a local anesthetic numbs the gums first. The visit takes about one to two hours.
We use digital X-rays to measure the gums before we start.
The area is numbed so the visit is comfortable.
We remove plaque and tartar above and below the gumline.
We smooth the roots so the gums can reattach.
Receding gums do not grow back on their own. Treatment can stop the recession from getting worse and protect your teeth. Caught early, a nonsurgical deep cleaning can hold the line, and in advanced cases a gum graft may be discussed.
A deep cleaning is done with a local anesthetic and a gentle touch. Most people go back to their day the same day. Afterward, you may feel some tenderness or sensitivity, which usually settles soon.
A local anesthetic keeps the area comfortable.
Most people go back to their routine the same day.
A little tenderness or light bleeding usually settles soon.
You get the findings explained first, and a written estimate. Valley View Dental is doctor-owned, and we show you what we see on your X-rays and in your mouth. Then you decide. Most gum care is handled by our own team, so you are not sent elsewhere.
Your gum care cost depends on how much treatment your gums need, so you get a written estimate at a free consult, before anything is booked. We do not post a single price for a deep cleaning, because every mouth is different.
