Start the new year out by taking preventative care of your smile so it can serve you all year round! Prepare for your next dental checkup with our Valley View Dental team by making a checklist before leaving home.
Whether you compile your checklist on your phone or a notepad, having a handy list can make your visit smooth and quicker. We know you are busy and also want to make the most out of your routine checkups. This means noting any dental issues you might be experiencing, however small. Are you having any tooth pain? Do your gums bleed or have a dry mouth a lot lately? Wanting to make changes to your smile with cosmetic dental treatments? We are here to help! Writing things down helps keep you from forgetting anything important.
Prepare Your Checkup Checklist
-You are struggling to maintain your regular dental routine.
-Your teeth feel sensitive when you consume hot or cold foods and drinks.
-Your gums often feel swollen, sore, or bleeding.
-You have trouble talking, swallowing, or chewing.
-You have loose teeth.
-You are unhappy with stained or discolored teeth.
Having this list can help your time with one of our dentists go more smoothly without sacrificing much-needed dental care. Be sure to schedule your visit at a time when we will have enough time to address your concerns without having you feel rushed to get to your next commitment.
Call ahead. It’s a good idea to give us a quick call the day before your scheduled appointment to confirm your appointment with our dental team. We will generally check in with you beforehand, especially if this is your first appointment with us. Give yourself plenty of time to get to your appointment and be sure to know how to get to our office so you don’t get delayed. We often recommend coming in half an hour early so you can fill out any important paperwork, especially if this is your first visit!
Bring important documentation. Bring your dental insurance card so we can file for pre-authorization, your level of coverage and what copays or out-of-pocket expenses you can expect. We accept all traditional and most PPO dental insurance plans. We do not accept HMO or Medicaid insurance. Bring your oral appliance (retainer, denture). This allows us to inspect and repair it as needed to keep your teeth healthy and safe.
Maintain your routine checkups. Doing this allows us to detect and correct developing issues before they grow and become more costly and invasive to treat.
